About
This Initiative
Our community is home to many service members and military families who serve and sacrifice on behalf of our nation. We want every service member and their families to know they are not walking alone.
Operation: Community Support began as a simple way to show visible support β placing yellow ribbons throughout our neighborhoods and displaying yard signs that remind our military community: your community is behind you.
Together, we hope to create a visible and meaningful reminder that this community stands united in gratitude, support, and care for those who serve and the families who serve alongside them.
**This initiative is meant to encourage and support. Please respect the privacy of military families and avoid sharing deployment details or personal information publicly.
Support goes beyond ribbons and signs.
It looks like neighbors helping neighbors, meals shared, childcare offered, encouragement given, and everyday kindness extended to families carrying the weight of deployment.
Hereβs some practical ways to get involved and help love on our service members!
ποΈ Display Yellow Ribbons
Purchase yellow ribbon locally and create bows to place around your neighborhood β on trees, mailboxes, porches, or community spaces β as a visible reminder that our service members and their families are supported.
π Be Aware and Encouraging
Small public gestures matter.
Thank service members and their families for their sacrifice
Buy a meal or coffee for a military family when you see the opportunity
Offer patience, kindness, and encouragement in everyday interactions
π« Support Military Kids
Deployment is especially hard on children.
Invite military kids to playdates or activities.
Offer rides to practices or events when schedules get overwhelming.
πͺ§ Purchase a Yard Sign
Yard signs reading βYour Community Is Behind Youβ will be available soon (location TBD).
Proceeds will benefit TBD, helping provide meals and support for families during deployment.
π€ Support Military Families Personally
Reach out to neighbors or friends who are active duty, have a loved one serving or preparing to deploy. Simple acts of care make a meaningful difference:
Offer to babysit or help with school pickup
Deliver a home-cooked meal
Send groceries or a gift card
Write a note of encouragement
Give them a few moments to rest or recharge
π§Ί Help With Everyday Tasks
Mow a lawn
Help with small home repairs
Assist with errands, laundry, etc.
π¬ Send Encouragement
Mail cards or care packages to deploying service members or families remaining at home.
Encourage kids to draw pictures or write notes of support.
π Pray or Reflect
Pray intentionally for protection, strength, and peace for those deploying and for families at home.
Set aside a weekly moment as a family to remember those serving.
π΄Serve at a Hearts Apart Dinner
Hearts Apart dinners support families experiencing deployment by providing meals, fellowship, and encouragement. Volunteers can help with food service, setup, childcare, or hospitality β simple ways to care for families walking through deployment.
